From the vineyards: harvest is over

Thursday 28. September harvest 2017 in Fonterutoli is officially over.
Harvest this year has gone beyond expectations. The summer was very dry with high temperatures, but the mid-September provisional rain, and the sudden decrease of both daytime and late-night temperatures, made the grapes on the branches mature optimally, reaching a good balance between polyphenols, acidity and sugar concentration.
There is a sharp drop in the quantity, as a consequence of the climate, but having brought to the cellar healthy and beautiful grapes, thanks to the parcel management of the vineyards and the manual selection of each cluster, is a satisfying result. Much of the Sangiovese harvested in the last period is still fermenting and will not be in the aging room to age before a month.
