FONTERUTOLI TERROIR

Situated around the village of Fonterutoli, 5 km south of Castellina in Chianti, together with Siepi, this vineyard forms the historic nucleus of the winery.

The production areas are at an average altitude of 420 meters above sea level and stretch out to cover 18 hectares. 75% of which are planted with Sangiovese grapes and the rest with Merlot. The soil is typical of the Alberese area, with a medium limestone texture, with a very rich texture and with little water retention capacity. The density ranges from 4,500 to 7,600 plants per hectare, depending on the period in which they were planted, and the cultivation types are Guyot and spur cordon-training.The unusual and varied assortment of pedological characteristics and microclimatic conditions in the area result in grapes that yield elegant wines, with strong aromatic components and extraordinary complexity.
