Chianti Classico Collection 2020 - two brand-new Mazzei Gran Selezione wines


Chianti Classico Collection 2020, the most important tasting of Chianti Classico was held at Stazione Leopolda in Florence on 17 and 18 February, with 200 producers and over 740 tasting labels - a preview of the latest vintages of Chianti Classico in its typologies Annata, Riserva and Gran Selezione.
The 2020 edition celebrates also 50 years of the Chianti Classico Expo and 20 years of Chianti Classico DOP oil – namely the European recognition of the "Protected Designation of Origin" certification for the oil produced in the hills of the Gallo Nero ("Black Rooster").

On this special occasion we brought a preview of Badiola and Vicoregio36, the two brand-new Gran Selezione wines that, together with Castello Fonterutoli, represent the crowning of decades of passion for the diversity and complexity of the Chianti Classico terroirs.
Since the 2017 vintage, in fact, the Mazzei family has increasingly focused its attention on the terroir peculiarities of their vineyards, which belongs to different Municipalities of the Chianti Classico area:

Vicoregio, Castelnuovo Berardenga – Vicoregio36
Badiola, Radda in Chianti – Badiola
