OBAMA ON PHILIP MAZZEI DURING THE FINAL STATE DINNER
During the final state dinner, at the presence of the Italian Premier Renzi and other personalities of Italian politics and culture, President Barak Obama quoted Philip Mazzei while speaking about the relationship between USA and Italy, reflecting on the influence that the Italian culture has had on the American democracy.
Philip Mazzei, befriended Franklin, Adams, Washington, and Jefferson; the latter invited him to introduce vine growing in Monticello, Virginia. But the most important thing is that Philip inspired Jefferson with the idea that "All men are by nature equally free and independent. Such equality is necessary in order to create a free government" and Obama in his speech quotes this important man. Watch the video.
