The year 2004 was characterized by heavy rains, well over average, especially in March and April, creating excellent conditions for vegetative growth. The following summer was fairly hot, especially in August, but not so torrid as to require the use of the emergency irrigation system. The last days of August and all of September there were sharp differences between daytime and night-time temperatures, allowing excellent maturation of the grapes and optimal development of the aromatic component. The wine harvest began on September 27 and ended around the middle of October, with the grapes well ripened and in perfect health. The must was rich in antocyanic concentrations and with marked varietals aromas.
